. Dental tip of the day:

Wrinkles and grey hairs are not the only tell tale signs of aging. As we age our teeth tend to get yellowier. Yellowed teeth can make a person look prematurely older. Teeth Whitening can make some one look years younger.

Also when someone smiles what is noticed is their smile.  Whitened teeth are the brightest thing in the visual field and tend to be the feature noticed first. Conversely, smiling faces are animated and energized and the visual effect of wrinkles is minimized. Smiling can make a person appear years younger! There are a number of affordable options for whitening your smile and if you are interested in finding out more please call one of our participating cosmetic dental offices to set up a consultation.

It used to be if you wanted a strong but good looking crown a dentist would have only one option: A porcelain fused to metal crown. Now dentists have more esthetic crowns to choose from. A number of strong and metal free crowns are good choices for posterior crowns. Procera crowns, made by Nobel Biocare, have a long clinical track record and I have used them for over ten years. Currently for most of my posterior crowns that are tooth colored, I a have been using Lava crowns by 3M. These are quite beautiful, fit really well and are quite strong. They are a good choice for most posterior teeth. They do not have to be placed more than .5 mm below the gum since there is no metal collar to hide. Accordingly, they never will have that tell tale grey line near the gums that ceramometal crowns can develop
